People have been talking about what they'll wear. I was quite surprised at the worrying about not being thin enough, and what kind of swimsuit to get.
I'd imagined we'd look like the Macworld Expo crowd--mostly men in jeans and polo shirts. I mean, most of us spend a fair bit of time on our computers, right? Have our expectations of how we look been raised and glamorized in our heads so much that we will be utterly disappointed when we see who we really are?
Just so you know, I will be at YearlyKos.
I'm fatter than most of you who will be there. And I'm a liberal. Those two things are embodied in me. And I'm from Berkeley--do I get good liberal points for that?
I wear Birks, but do not drive a Volvo station wagon.
I will be wearing a swimsuit at the pool.
I will wear appropriate, dare I say pretty, clothing at other times.

I am a size acceptance activist.
The obesity "epidemic" is over-rated
I was at Height and Weight Discrimination hearings in San Francisco. Fat is a class and race issue. Class because the lower class tends to be fatter. Race because who is more likely to be lower class? Right. People of color. There was a spokesperson for the Samoan community there who spoke about the race issues.
